May House Party Layouts

Official House party layout  The happiest day of my life

I love you and all your faces

This is an amazing and stunning set of kits so many wonderful papers and embellishments . I have been a bit carried away with playing with these kits. I am doing a hybrid project on the Design House Digital Blog on the 7th also using these amazing kits. I'll be making a Jasmine bag Like a lavender bag only with Jasmine.

Anyway those were my May House Party Layouts

So to my INSPIRATION POST (which is quite long but I hope you will bear with me)

PHOTO LESS  LAYOUTS

We all fall into a rut now and again , and don't break out of the box of what is normal or expected.   Photos are the usual basic starting point for a layout, or sometimes we will take photos to match a specific paper (who isn't guilty of that). But how often do we actually make layouts with no traditional photos.

Either having absolutely no photos or  using your photos in a completely different way.

My 1st 2 examples are paper layouts , they were made to explain complicated feelings or stories. The 1st is a layout about My daughters and my story, its a complicated story and a story that was and is a huge part of our lives. There are bits that are really sad, and you could say horrific, how could I do scrapbooks of our lives and not tell the story.

How do I tell the story without it being graphic and upsetting.

Here is my solution,

 photo frontpage.jpg

 photo Page12.jpg

 photo page34.jpg

 photo page56.jpg

 photo Page78.jpg

 photo Theend.jpg

So that was my 1st photo less layout and it made me realise that Scrapbooking should not just be about the fantastic things in our lives, its about our lives.

My second example of a photoless layout again was to record something complicated. At the time the man my daughter was with the very very wrong for her, he had caused trouble between us. I found out she was going to marry him in the August and I wasn't to be invited because he didn't want me there. This layout was about my feelings about all of that

The gold panels are metal that I have embossed in the same way that I did in my last Hybrid tutorial on Design House Digital

Fortunately the wedding did not go ahead, the man is no longer in my daughters life and our relationship is now amazingly strong. My daughter has seen and read this layout and it made it so easy for me to explain how I felt at the time.

My next layout has no traditional photo. I did use a photo to create a digital stencil or mask, and this time its a happy happy layout

Goodnight Beautiful

So this is my Knight in shining armour, and he truly truly is. The "I'll love you" quote and all the papers used are from the May house party kits , the layout also features one of my pieces of wordart from my freebee word art kit

So this is my freebee kit . I hope you like it and will find it useful . If you would like it you can download each piece seperatly FREE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD

So that's it for me today.

However I will be posting a couple of posts over the next few days so pop back. You never know what you might find.

A card a layout and a freebee

Busy busy busy, but I have managed to set aside some time to do a little post and make a little freebee for you all.

Well I'm hosting the Design House Digital 4 Play challenge today. Available Uk 24 hour clock 12.00 and USS 6.00. You can buy all 4 of the kits I used for the grand total of $3.00 on the 22nd April Only
I had to pick 4 kits from DHD to play with, well thats a really hard job as there are loads of great kits to play with.

I picked some lovely Mattes by Vanessa Fenton and some amazing papers by Mary Moseley to start with as they were both kits I love and had already decided I wanted to use, but I decided to challenge myself and pick a template as I hardly ever use one. The one I chose is by Tisha Chestnut and I think it offers loads of scope for playing with. The last kit I chose was by Kristin Damon and has some stitches in that I really liked and papers and a journalling block that  I thought would work well with my other choices. I avoided picking embellishment kits as I tend to use a lot of embellishments.

Anyway here is the layout that I made from the kits. Couldn't help myself and cut out one of the flowers from the background paper to make the flower embellishments,

I also made this card using the same template and kits,

I think you could give this card to either a man or a woman and its gone into my emergency I'm an idiot card stash , for those times when time just gets away from you and the next thing you know its .......s birthday tommorow and you need to get the card in the post.

Anyway if you want to play along with the challenge or just buy one or two of the kits you can find out more on the 4play blog post

So as promised here is my freebee. Hope some of you find it ueful

you can download this freebee paper here

So that's it for me for today
BYEE for now

Why I love words, another layout and

Well I have been inspired this week to do a layout about why I love words. I write the odd poem and read loads and loads. I am dyslexic and was unfortunate to change areas at a key stage in a childs reading ability. I could read fairly well early, however I went from one area to another and they used phonics and made me start again. I didn;t really manage to read fluently again till I was 11 . I went to secondry school and we did the 1st world war in history and I read some of the war poets poems and that was it . I was moved and inspired by the sheer depth of feeling they could inspire with so few words. If you haven't come across their poetry you should take a look. Rupert Brooke and Wilfred Owen both died in the war and I have represented this by changing the center of their poppys to the watch face to represent their running out of time.

So here is my layout

I also fell in love with Vanessa Fentons Two new kits Moody Blues stunning arty papers Ill be using all of them they are moody and magnificent  and Haven a fantastic gothic alpha. They are so up my street. So here is my layout featuring them. It also feature one of Vanessa;s fantastic floral brushes.

Anyway I have also been doing a little designing and put together the two papers below

If you like them you can download my freebee papers here

Well thats it for me today. Have a great day!

Hi all well the weather here in the UK is GREY and more GREY, but fortunately for us crafters we can put colour back into our day by playing with paper whether that is paper or digital papers. So here are a couple of projects that I have played with over the last few days.

1st is a slider card that I have made for a tutorial on the Design House Digital Blog I hope you like it

Hybrid Slider card tutorial

I love these sliders they are great for cards and also a great way to hide journalling. If you would like to learn how to make this card, or how to make your own sliders or want to find out about the lovely digital papers I have used you can go to the Design House Digital Hybrid Tutorial.

At the weekend My husband daughter and grandson Oh and me too went to Catalyst Science Museum in Widnes. We had a lovely time. Whilst there my grandson had a lolly and I just had to do a layout as soon as I came home.

I used 4 kits from Design House digital they are Noted doodle stamps I love these stamps they are so useful and great for all sorts of layouts.  I used Vanity Fair Grunge squares  on either side of the layout, these are so adaptable. The papers used were from  Baby Boy Papers and finally I just had to use the  Sweet Shoppe Embellishment kit it was perfect for this layout.

So that's it for today hope you have a fantastic day.

Just a couple of layouts and a free download

Hi All

Been rushed of my feet for the last week and despite many efforts to find time to do a post, I really struggled to find 5 mins. What with trying to learn illustrator, being unpaid taxi for my 27 year old daughter and grandson. A few family commitments etc. I hardly had time to breath.

I have managed a couple of layouts

This is called my Sam, I used Diane Rooneys Meadow Walk kit and the corresponding kit Mary Mosleys Meadow walk kit  Great kits and I liked playing with them. I made the ribbon rosetes with the ribbon in the kits but I stretched it made crosses of each colour then layered them up. Ill be using ribbon rosetes again.

The other layout

I just love this photo, when Jake my grandson was a little under the weather and had Jack the teddy (The school teddy) to stay he insisted on giving Jack a birthday party. I think its a great story to remind him of when hes all grown up,

The kits used were Amuse by October Dawn and Inkling and Wits corresponding Amuse kit

Don;t forget that you can collect a huge free kit from Design House Digital Join the blog hop treasure hunt and you can collect the kit below

Just a couple of cards and Los

Hi everyone

I have been doodling about doing this and that, and here are some things that I thought I would post

1st is a couple of cards made with Spellbinders embossing foldersthe 1st uses a Magic stamp foam block. Magic stamp mouldable foam works so well with the embossing folders and the dies. Anyway here are the results

I used D-lites Fantastic flourish 1 and the mouldable foam and Scattered straw Distress ink I heated the mouldable foam then pressed it onto the cutting side of the die. Then inked the result up  in scattered straw. Stamped onto whie card. Then I embossed it with the M-Bossabilities Flora folder Then heavily inked with scattered straw to create the back ground. To create the ribbon I used the Magic stamp and the other side of the embossing folder. I can't wait to try mixing and matching dies and embossing folders.

This card I embossed gold glitter card with the Flora folder then inked with stazon. I love the two colour glitter.

Design House Digital has loads of new releases today and the above layout was created with one of them. Sarah Sullivans fantastic Fly Away with Me kit I love the kites and hot air balloons and the colour scheme is great for boys.

The second kit I have used is the Wonderful Fairy Dust kit by Kristin Damon

There are also a few more releases which I will be playing with in the near future

Bay Dreaming - Set Sail Digital Paper Set by Tia Hoffman  I love this kit can't wait to go on holiday will have to try and cadge a lift on a sailboat so I can all of use this. Don't think the rib we go dolphin spoting on will be quite right LOL

and some amazing glimmer  and glitter mist brushes called Glitzy splats and mists by Vanessa Fenton I know I'll be over using these I adore mists and glitters

So that's my blog post for today.

See you soon

A couple of layouts and a quick card topper

Well I've been very busy the last few weeks

1st of all there is my Mothers day cards

The doily backgrounds are Cheery Lynn designs and this is the French flair set. They are beautiful, but even with the cuttle hugger plate and thin paper the cutting was less than perfect and it was difficult and quite scary putting it through the cuttlebug. Even though I taped it down it moved slightly due to having to run it though the machine a number of times. However I was pleased with the finished card eventually.

I also had to do a couple of birthday cards, which will be posted at a later date.

As you maybe aware I am now a Decorator for  Design House Digital  and  they have got a lot of new launches this week and as  one of their decorators, I've been busy using some of the new launches to create various items.

The 1st new release I used is Hippitty Hopperty and features 3 designers work  Michele Scobel, ImagineNation and Kristin Damon.

I love this collaboration. Love the spring fresh colours.  As soon as I saw this kit I realised that I had found the perfect kit to use for a layout I've wanted to do for ages. My grandson said something very cute when he 1st went down a tubular slide, unfortunately these days your not allowed to take photos in these sort of places , So I didn't have a photo but I did have an idea how I would do the layout, So these papers were just ideal.   So here it is. I think it works.

I put the lo together with Serif Craft Artist 2. It took a little bit of patience to build up the Rabbit hole but I definatly think it was worth it.

I think the collaboration is brilliant for Spring and Easter and don't forget that if you go to the Design House Digital Hipperty Hopperty Blog Post (where you will see all the other decorators creations) and answer this question in the comments What animal usually delivers Easter Goodies?  You will be entered into a draw to win.

Hippity Hoppity Collaboration - Peeps Paper Doll By Kristin Damon  I think its soooo cute. So don't forget to comment and good luck.
To see the full collaboration kits you can go to Design House Digital  collaborations

Also this week Design House Digital have another collab launching a set of related kits called Allstars Cheerleader and Swimming. Kits are by Imagine Nation and .

Unfortunatly I did not have time to play with these kits, but they are all great, I love the colourways and the banners. Don't forget to comment on the post, If you answer the question What sports do you want Inkling and Wit or Imagine Nation to create another kit for? in the  Allstars   post you will be entered into a draw  to win a gift certificate for the  Allstars Swimming Kit.

So to my next creation, This is an arty piece I created using the stunning Arty FX Ocean kit by

the fantastic Diana Rooney. I loved this kit to bits as soon as I saw it. See what you think?

You can just smell the ocean. I used most of the papers to make the glass tiles . I adore the glitter and sand ,  this kit is just oozing with style. I know that this lit will be used to death, great for all my dolphin and holiday sea/beach layouts

So finally  Its A Colorful World Solid Papers By October Dawn have also been released this week, What a stunning range of solid paper colours with texture as you can see below

As an experiment I randomly selected a few papers and put them together to create this card topper, using Serif Craft Artist 2. The colours have been selected so well that no matter what papers I put together they looked fantastic.

All the items were created or filled with the papers I also used Vanessa Fentons Words 2 Delight and Little Birdie Boho Chic Brushes By Sarah Sullivan.  I loved using the brushes , I outlined in black and got a two colour result which I feel is very effective.

So that's it for the mo. TTFN
