Team Reveal at e-scapeandscrap.net

Hello all

Its my 1st team reveal at e-scapeandscrap.net and the brief was to use themed  kits and embellishments.  As soon as I saw the brief I knew I just had to scrap last weekends trip out with my grandson where I caught a great shot of him with an owl, and some nice shots of the owl on its own.

So here are the two layouts that I have done

the layouts were both created with  Who Who Summer by The Busy Elf Designs  more of The Busy Elf Designs are available at e-scapeandscrap.net

I loved the Owl on the 1st layout as it sort of looks like its glancing lovingly at something. It goes so well with the picture.  It is an embellishment, but I decided I wanted it as a frame. I think it works well.  The second layout I colour changed the owl and faded it into the background as I wanted something a bit more subtle. I loved the arty paint clusters in the kit and I will be using them in many more projects. The s on the who is an edit of the kit.

I also put together another layout this week featuring my favorite dolls

Well thats it for me today as when you are reading this I'll be chuffing along on a steam train at Churnet Valley Railways steam galla and if I don't go to bed now. 1 am Sunday. I won't be up in  5 and a half hours.

1st Challenge for Design House Digital. 4 kits, 4 designers, 1 week

Well Hello today is Design House Digital's Monday challenge 4 play digi challenge.  Hosted by Amy Lanham she selected  4 great kits to play with

Design House Digital 4 Play Challenge for march

New Beginnings Templates by Courtney VanSickle

Heritage Mini Kit by Jen Allyson

George Digital Papers by Diane Rooney

Bare Necessities – {Flowers and Fasteners} by Vanessa Fenton

They were so brilliant that even though I wasn't officially supposed to start decorating for Design House Digital until next week. I begged to join in the challenge. I'm not usually one for working with templates, but Courtney's templates  are a doddle to work with and I really enjoyed it. I loved Jen's Heritage Mini kit and Venessa's Bare Necessities (Flowers and fasteners) will be a great and very useful addition to my digi kits. The George papers were fantastic and I especially liked the background paper which I can see me using over and over and over again)

So here is my layout

Design House Digital 4 Play Layout For March 4th

I used elements from all the kits which you can get along with many others in the Design House Digital Shop
You can see all the other Design House Decorator 4 play brilliant los on the Design House Digital Blog

So that's it  from me for today.

TOMORROW, TOMORROW You'll love my post TOMMOROW
It will answer a friends recent question. What crafting softwear do you use and why?

Introducing my grandson , Scrapdragons and Sisterhood of scrap and Take part Tuesday challenge entry

Hello all.

Thought for once I would do something totally unrelated to either the make your own metal embellishments challenge (which I do have another example for you of a layout using the make your own metal embellishments techniques. This is a layout I did a while ago. Thoughts on my daughter getting married I printed the title reversed onto paper . Then used this to trace the outline. Then embossed squiggles around the edge and a smaller squiggle inside)

or the Dovecraft Laura Ashley Competition. So went searching for challenges. I fancied doing some Scrapping as I haven't done any for a while anyway I came across,

Scrapdragons and their challenge was paper peicing and the Sisterhood of scrap whos challenge was Sun and its also another entry to the Take Part Tuesday Polka dots challenge as there were not many dots on my other entry.

So anyway went to print off my selected photos, put my new printer cartridge in my printer and it didn't fit.

Not to be put off I decided that I could do the layout I was thinking of as a digital lo with a digital paper peicing so here is my entry

This is my beautiful grandson Jake who is just 3 months old. These are two of my favorite photos and knew that these were the ones I wanted to do the layout with.

If you like the paper peicing you can downlod it in pink and blue or in the other colourway orange and blue

so thats it for today. Bye for now

Wednesday 24th October 1 day to go till blog candydraw

Well everyone only one day left to get your comments in for a chance to win a full pack of The English Paper Companys Christmas collection 12 by 12 papers. So make the most of your chances now.

I will be running another Blog candy giveaway starting on the 26th So keep commenting. You ll have to start commenting before I announce the giveaway but don't worry its definatly worth entering. I jusr want to create some samples before I announce what I will be giving away next month.

I had been thinking of packing up my blog and freebee papers due to financial and time constraints (You should see the bags under my eyes and my bank balance LOL) but really want to keep it going as it is because I know that my papers are popular. I definatly would prefer not to charge for my papers as then it becomes less of an enjoyment and more of a business.

So you may notice that I have signed up for google ads , so if you want to support my blog, please feel free to click on any adverts, it costs you nothing and you may find some great bargins and great sites you will notice that they are mostly craft related. I hope that the google ads become succesful as this will free up some more time for me to put into my blog and then I can do tutorials and more projects which I would enjoy. I might also get to bed before 2 am occasionally LOL, although probably not . I'll just end up doing more crafting and designing .

Anyway as I promised another colourway on yesterdays paper. this is for those of you who love pretty pinks and purples. Hope you like it

you can download it Free Paper Download

If you liked the rainbow papers look forward to the next few days as I have been playing around with the theme and have some more papers for you

So am off to recharge my batteries after my week of feeling off and late nights.
Bye for now

Thursday 18th October. Chipboard frames

As part of a design pack from Papercraft Junkies I recived some chipboard elements. Now although I thought they were really nice, they are probably something I would nt have bought myself. Always up for a challenge I decided to start with tht part of my pack. I wanted to do something special with them, They are so easy t adapt and I wanted to show thatbut just wasn't happy with my very numerous ideas. However I was looking at them yesterday morning and suddenly inspiration hit.
So I set to it and before I knew it I'd created this for my sister. Its to remind her of her wedding day and about how close her family are.

I punched holes in the frames . The wires in the middle section start on one edge of the top frame get wrapped around the title and end up on the opposite edge of the bottom frame. I used a large chipboard flower and inked it with black then edged it in green marker, added the prima flower and letter brad. attached the chipboard letters . Inked the edge of the family matters chipboard and adhered that to the bottom frame . Added the paper flower, Used the Heidi Swapp paper ribbon to create a stem and to pick up on the pinks in the photo, added th paper flower and button with thread detail. Added some fibres to the bottom and a dome sticker and a pink and green paper flower to the bottom frame to pick up on the pink from the top frame.

Anyway Yvette really loves it and is hanging it in her livingroom. Im always really pleased when Yvette likes my stuff as being a crafter herself, and a good one at that, she is really honest. You know when you've spent ages on something and you think that somethings still not right, well I always take them to Yvettes abd as if she likes it, If she does then I'll tell her what I think is wrong and see if she agrees. Its really great, she has stopped me throwing some of my projects away, funnily enough when I look at them the day after, they look like different cards LOL

Anyway have a freebee for you today again a matching paper to yesterdays and the day befores freebees

If you like it you can download it Free Paper Download and a lighter version Free paper Download

Don t forget to comment for a chance to win the English Paper Company Blog Candy Giveaway (for details read blog candy posts)

ps Simply Cards and Papercrafts Magazine is out today with my Craft Robo Christmas card project

Wednesday 17th October odd crafting bits

Thought you might like to know a bit about me, so here are a couple of los about myself

Digi Lo Things I am definatly NOT

About how my MUm myself and my daughter are very very similar another digi

Just a reminder about the era when I was born

Anyway if you haven't scrapped yourself, then what you should remember is that although we feel as if we arn't that interesting our grandchildren and great grandchildren will think we are. So lets give them something to think about, the more honest we are as scrappers the more valuable our scrapbooks will become, If we scrap both good and bad, our journey through life, it will be a useful tool for our grandchildren to see how we progressed through life, to see that we did nt always have it easy
This is a layout that is brutally honest about my strengths and weaknesses and how no matter what life has thrown at me, always manage to get up and start again. The brutally honest bit is in the mini book, my family have all read it, but its very honest. Its a digi lo and paper lo combination. I printed my digi and then scrapped it

anyway enough about me,
if you have a lo about yourself, post it on your blog and post a link here and you will get 2 bonus tickets in the English Paper Company Blog Candy Givewawy, and if you haven't scrapped yourself yet this is a good excuse to start. Any comment gets 1 ticket in the draw as per usual

Ps There will be 5 extra bonus tickets in the draw for the lo that grabs my attention and tells me something about you

Here is todays freebee paper based on yesterdays paper

If you like it you can download it free Free Paper Download

So everyone tell me about yourself in the form of a lo

Monday 15th October Papercraft Junkies Challenge

Hello everyone its Papercraft Junkies Challenge day again
This weeks challenge is Autumn, so use Autumn colours or themes, whatever autumn reminds you of. I love Autumn colours so again have a few examples. I took 6 Autumnal papers to work and just played around with them, This is what I ended up with

For this I used a leaf punch and a circle punch. I punched the leaf 1st then punched a circle around it with the punch held upside down so you can see where you are positioning it. Really easy but effective. Then placed the circles over a strip of textured gold card. Used the leaves that were punched out and a few more. Quick and simple card

This is the same basic technique only this time I punched a small circle. then puched the other circle off centre. This time I matted them twice and created an oriental feel.

Ive had a set of Autmn papers for 2 years, used a few when I 1st got them, for this layout

then saved the rest becuase I wanted to use them on another special project. However I still had quite a few So I decided to use some of them to create a mini book, and used the left over peices to create 2 more cards . I still have one of each of my favorite papers set aside for something really special. .

I cut out 3 of the tree designs on one of the papers, they had wiggly edged boxes around them
I used a Dovecraft chipboard ribbon slider sticker (although if you ve noticed the Papermania ones are exactly the same) Used the backing paper to make a ribbon . Thats it basically

This is the cover of the mini book I have made, although I must admit its not finished yet. I ve covered all the pages, but I want to fill it with pics I take this autumn and quotes. and finally

Used a thin strip of the remaining peice of my favorite paper, there wasn t much left as its mostly in my book., and two other strips, and placed them at bottom of card. Then used a chipboard slide mount around the remaining peice of my favorie paper . added brads and attached to top of card. This is a great way to make the most of your favorite papers. Even though there is not much of that paper left both peices really stand out as the feature of the card

Don't forget that my very tallented design team mates examples for challenge 10 can be seen HERE and if you enter you could win a 15% discount from at www.craftycarrot.com.
As usual I have created a themed paper for you to download

available to download Free paper Download

and don't forget the more times you comment on my blog the higher your chance of winning this months Blog candy giveaway, in time for christmas crafts and cards. A full 72 paper pack of the complete English paper company Christmas collection. Spread the word on your blog, add a comment here with link to your post and you get an extra 2 tickets in the blog candy draw.
Anyway thats me for now
Catch you all later

Monday

Well as is getting to be the norm, its a miserable rainy day here in Crewe. I have decided that I will not be continuing the daily dares, and will just concentrate on Dare Tag which is starting on Wednesday. Really looking forward to that. The winner of my competition is Di or rainowgirl . Being the only entrant it was not difficult to choose a winner. As soon as I recieve her address I will be sending the stunning ribbon pick and mix kit from Ribbon Mad.
Hoping to get some serious crafting done today. Have to work on my 1st circle journal, projects for Augusts demonstration at Alexander Paper Suppplies, and some card projects as well.
Had a great day out at Ironbridge and visited the Jakefield Tile museum again. Have some great photos which I want to do a lo off

The famous Thomas Telford Iron Bridge

MAWS Tile works LOGO

Can t wait to get my photo editing softwear loaded to this computer, although not sure we are keeping it at the moment, as its a nightmare to use. If it drops into sleep mode, when you go back on it wont connect to the internet, so then you have to restart it. Plus the keyboard as I ve said before needs changing. We have not put any softwear on the computer yet and its not very stable. If we cant figure out whats going on by the end of the week its going back . Oh the joys of VISTA

Are you aware

Its carers week in the Uk . I do have quite strong views on many things but one of the things that is really close to my heart is young carers. Having been in a situation where my daughter of 6 had to fend for herself due to me being very ill. I have every admiration for those children out there who not only look after severly disabled or mentally ill parents but also run the house and look after their brothers and sisters. I recently saw a program, about a 16 year old who looks after her mum who has severe arthritis, and her younger sister who is autistic.
I feel that we severly let down these amazingly brave and in many cases overlooked children.

I also hope this inspires you to do layouts based on what you believe in. What you feel strongly about, We may not change the world, but we can show that we care. If you feel inspired to create a lo about something you feel stronly about e mail it to me at rattytatty@fsmail.net and I will post the 4 that I consider to be the most inspiring or effective
